As the guys at the Rescue Mission said last night...

"CHARTER is in the house!" ...and so was God. We rocked the crowd while the Holy Spirit worked His magic.

During one song we hand out maracas and tambourines and other musical noisemakers and the men enthusiastically accompany us for the rest of the concert. Rather noisy but they really get into the music and their faces reflect the inner response of their hearts.

There are always a couple people who refuse to enjoy themselves and all but 2 last night had come around and were making eye contact by the end of the concert. One in particular had turned his body as far to the wall as he could, poor thing. He was really fighting against the Holy Spirit.

Rather than do our own music again in August (which will be our 5th visit there) I asked the men to call out names of praise songs and hymns that they would like us to bring to them for sing-alongs.  They had great choices - from Jesus Loves Me and The Old Rugged Cross (sung to House of the Rising Sun), to Shout to the Lord and Come, Now is the Time to Worship. Since I work with kids during kids' church (1-5 grade), I am used to singing praise songs with hand motions - blended with American Sign Language - but, when I asked the guys if they were interested in learning handmotions (and I demonstrated with Deep and Wide) they turned me down! Spoil sports!

Anyway, thank you for lifting up our ministry in prayer. God does amazing things in the lives of these men who have so little that's good and so little hope. The Rescue Mission has a wonderful, effective ministry and we are honored to be a part of it.
